The Sault College women's hockey team claimed the Central Collegiate Women's Hockey Association championship during the weekend, running their record this season to 26-0.
They now head to the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) National Championships as the No. 1 ranked team in Division 2.
“The weekend was bittersweet for me and the other graduating players since it will be our last CCWHA championship, but we’re extremely proud of the effort we put in. Everyone showed up knowing what we needed to do to come home as league championships,” said team captain Olivia Barsanti.
The ACHA National Championships are in Boston March 16-21. Scheduling will be released in the coming days.
“The win feels great, and we’re super proud of what we’ve accomplished so far this season, but our goal hasn’t changed," added Barsanti. We won’t be satisfied until we come home with a national title. We’re feeling confident as we’re getting closer to our trip to Boston but know that we still have work to do in the next few weeks to finish the job.”
