Mario Tiziani has opened a comfortable four shot lead heading into today's final round of action at the Canadian Tour's $175,000 Northern Ontario Open at the Sault Ste. Marie Golf Club.
Sitting at 7-under par after Saturday's third round, Tiziani holds a four shot lead over David McKenzie, who was a co-leader after the first two rounds. Tiziani and McKenzie shared the lead after round two at -4.
After a pair of miserable days, the rain held off during the day on Saturday while the winds died down allowing for a few better scores.
Tony Carolan, Darren Griff, Kris Mikkelsen and Lee Williamson all sittied for third place at 2-under par. Dirk Ayers is the only other golfer under par in seventh place at -1.
Tee offs for today's final round begin at 10 a.m. from the first tee. The final group, which includes Tiziani, McKenzie and Williamson, is scheduled to tee off at 1:20 p.m. Carolan, Mikkelsen and Griff will tee off just before at 1:10 p.m.
The Golf Channel, local cable channel 54, will broadcast the stretch run live from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Locals Richard Evoy, Frank Kucher, Paul Raycroft and Jeff Hamilton did not play Saturday after failing to make the cut after Friday's second round.
