Sault Civics soccer has been on display a lot this summer.

The upcoming weekend will feature more Ontario Cup action in Sault Ste. Marie in the Under-17 Girls division and the Under-18 Boys division.

Last weekend saw Sault Ste. Marie host the Under-16 Girls Division and the Under-16 Boys Division.

In the Under-16 Girls division, the Soo Thunder Civics had a tough weekend picking up a tie and dropping two decisions in the three-team tournament.

The locals opened the tournament with a 4-1 loss at the hands of the Mississauga Falcons. Danielle Seaton scored the lone Soo goal.

In game two, Kirsty Mancuso gave the Soo Thunder a 1-0 lead over the Sarnia Spirit and that lead held up until the final minute of the game when Sarnia erased the deficit and came away with a 1-1 tie, effectively eliminating the locals from advancing.

On day two the locals, who may still have been feeling the effects of their disappointing tie against Sarnia, dropped a 3-0 decision at the hands of the Thunder Bay Lakehead Express.

Mississauga managed to advance from the division after posting a perfect 3-0 record in the tournament.

In the Under-16 Boys division, the Sault This Week Civics played well, but some bad luck led to the locals dropping two games and failing to advance.

Sault This Week dropped a 1-0 decision at the hands of the Kleinburg Nobleton Lions 88. The game was one that the locals had opportunities to win as they failed to convert a penalty kick and had two goals called back due to offsides.

In their second game, Sault This Week dropped a 2-0 decision to the eventual tournament winning North Mississauga Panthers.

On the second day of competition, Sault This Week came away with their only win of the tournament knocking off Windsor Polonia by a 2-0 score.

Luke Ruicci and Robert Paradiso scored for Sault This Week while Giancarlo Perra recorded the shutout.

North Mississauga finished with a perfect 3-0 record to win the tournament.

Ontario Cup Soccer action will continue again this weekend at Strathclair.

Action will begin on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. and wrap up on Sunday morning in both the Under-17 Girls and Under-18 Boys Divisions.
