OHL Announces 2005-06 Internet Live Stream Details

Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and Interactive Netcasting Systems Inc. (INSINC) today announced plans to broadcast the entire 2005-06 OHL regular season and 2006 OHL playoff games via the Internet live on a pay-per-view (PPV) broadband basis. The webcasting initiative starts next week with the season opener when the Plymouth Whalers travel to Saginaw to take on the Spirit and will continue throughout the rest of the regular season and the 2006 OHL playoffs. A variety of viewing packages will be made available to fans prior to the start of the 2005-2006 season.

The OHL regular season games will be available on a PPV basis for $5.95 per game or fans can purchase a monthly pass for $29.95 for all Live games.

OHL fans also have the opportunity to purchase a Live and On-demand package of $49.95 per month or $249.95 for the entire season. That’s a saving of $50.00 over the per month Live and On-Demand package.

INSINC, a pioneer in the delivery of streaming media, is delighted to partner with the OHL to develop what will be the most extensive, searchable database of highlight hockey clips available to date over the Internet.

This program gives our fans, as well as the family and friends of our players the opportunity to watch practically all of our games live on the Internet. It also provides the opportunity to use this program for pre-scouting purposes and as a development tool for our players and officials.

OHL Announces Disciplinary Action To Player Josh Beaulieu – London Knights Hockey Club

The Ontario Hockey League today announced the results of its review of an incident which occurred in the game played in London on Friday, September 2nd, 2005 between the London Knights and the visiting Sarnia Sting involving player Josh Beaulieu of the London Knights Hockey Club. The incident in question involved player Josh Beaulieu instigating an altercation and physically interacting with an unwilling opposing player.

In making the announcement, Commissioner Branch stated that “the League has been very clear with respect to the concerns regarding “bullying tactics” and we are of the opinion that player Beaulieu’s actions have no place in our game and we must all work to eliminate these type of bullying tactics from our game”.

“It is the position of the Ontario Hockey League that player Josh Beaulieu of the London Knights Hockey Club be suspended for the first five (5) regular season games of the London Knights Hockey Club”.

*** OHL Adds New Supervisor of Officials

TORONTO- Ted Baker, OHL Director of Hockey Operations and Referee-in-Chief, today announced the addition of Ray Scapinello to the League's team of officiating supervisors.

Scapinello, 58, a native of Guelph, Ontario, retired following the 2003-04 playing season after spending 33 seasons as a National Hockey League linesman. He worked 2,500 regular season and 426 playoff games in a stellar career that included 20 Stanley Cup final appearances and three NHL All-Star Games.

"The League is most pleased to have someone of the calibre of Ray Scapinello join our Supervisory Team", stated Baker. "We are always striving to provide our officials with the best mentoring possible and Ray's experience will certainly enhance the level of coaching for our referees and linesmen."

Scapinello worked his first NHL game on October 17, 1971 and also worked various Canada Cups, the World Cup of Hockey in 1996 and the Olympic Games in Nagano, Japan in 1998.

He becomes the eighth supervisor on staff headed by Director of Supervisors Ken Bodendistel. The other supervisors include Jim Lever, David Lynch, Ken Miller, Bill Prisniak, Sam Sisco and Rick Zbucki.
