OBA Championship wraps up in Sarnia

After a lengthy rain delay on Sunday, the OBA Midget 'AA' Championships have officially wrapped up in Sarnia.

Peterborough scored a 1-0 victory over Brockville in the final, which kicked off shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday night.

Action was scheduled to kick off on Sunday morning at 10 a.m. but was rescheduled for noon before ultimately getting underway at 3 p.m. The games also had to be moved to Courtright diamond about a half-hour south of Sarnia as the fields in Sarnia were unplayable.

The semi-final games got underway with Peterborough defeating Vaughan 2-1. The loss eliminated Vaughan from the tournament. Brockville then went on to defeat Sarnia 8-0.

The loss was Sarnia's first of the tournament and left three teams looking for two spots in the championships. Brockville won the draw for a bye and left Peterborough and Sarnia to battle for the other spot. Peterborough defeated Sarnia 5-2 to move on to eliminate the host team.

The local entry in the tournament, the Cambrian Mazda Black Sox dropped a pair of games on Saturday, 3-1 to Mississauga and 9-1 to Brockville after an opening day 3-1 win over Brantford.
