The Korah Colts are off to the Northern Ontario Secondary School Athletics (NOSSA) senior football final.
The senior Colts will host the senior NOSSA final next weekend in the Sault after a 41-18 win over Sudbury’s LoEllen Knights on Saturday at Superior Heights.
The Colts will play North Bay’s city champion in the NOSSA final.
Korah jumped out to a lead early on as Nathan Guizzetti scored on a 69-yard touchdown run just over two minutes into the game to give Korah a 6-0 lead.
Guizzetti added to the lead later in the opening quarter on a 37-yard touchdown run. The convert on the play from Ty Koski made it a 13-0 game.
A 15-yard touchdown run from Payton Melchiorre and convert from Koski with three minutes to go in the opening quarter made it a 20-0 game.
Melchiorre added a 42-yard touchdown run just under three minutes into the second quarter. The convert from Koski made it 27-0.
With just under three minutes to go in the half, quarterback Zayn Murdoch hit Ethan Carbone for a five-yard touchdown pass. With the convert from Koski and a late safety conceded by the Colts, Korah took a 34-2 lead into the half.
Nathan Higham scored on a 27-yard touchdown run in the third quarter with Koski adding the convert to make it 41-2.
LoEllen scored a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
Early in the quarter, Quin Mazzuchin caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Noah Parsons, who also hit Jack Centis for an eight-yard major. A two-point convert by Mazzuchin on his initial touchdown capped off the LoEllen scoring in the game.
Guizzetti ran the ball six times for 115 yards for Korah in the win while Melchiorre added 94 yards on four carries.
Ethan Carchidi had 4.5 tackles and a pair of interceptions for Korah while Turner Dickinson had 5.5 tackles defensively.
Mazzuchin caught 10 passes for 115 yards for LoEllen.
After taking over the duties at quarterback for LoEllen, Parsons completed eight of 10 pass attempts for 141 yards. Steven Sola got the start at QB and completed nine of 18 pass attempts for 92 yards.
Defensively for LoEllen, Centis had six tackles.
