On Saturday, Matt Caria and Zac Torquato led the North Stars with two goals and two assists each in a 7-0 win over Rayside. Michael Sharp added a goal and two assists, Matt D'Agostini scored once and setup another while Lucas Goodall scored once and Matt Dias recorded three assists.
Travis O'Brien recorded the shutout in net for the Soo, the team's first of the season.
On Sunday, the North Stars exploded with five goals in the third period to break open what was a tight game and secure an 11-5 win.
After playing to a 2-2 tie after a period, the North Stars pulled starting goaltending Michael Maulucci in the second period after Rayside recorded their fourth goal in favour of O'Brien who then went the distance. The North Stars managed to take a 6-4 lead after two periods.
Matt D'Agostini and Tyler Lannigan paced the offense with two goals and an assist each while Caria added two goals. Matt Dias scored once and assisted on two others while Paul Dupont, Goodall, Michael D'Agostini and Adam Kauppi scored once and added an assist each.
The North Stars, winners of five straight games, have now compiled a 22-1-0-2 record for 46 points and an 18 point lead over second place Kirkland Lake in the standings.
The North Stars will take a break from GNML action and head to Waterloo next weekend for the Golden Puck Tournament. The team returns to GNML action in Sudbury on December 20th and 21st.
