The Soo North Stars needed only 5:57 to put up enough offense to beat the Kapuskasing Flyers.

But the North Stars weren't done there.

The Soo added six more goals for a total of 10 in the opening period alone and were able to cruise to an 11-3 victory on Sunday afternoon.

Coupled with a 5-4 overtime win on Saturday, the North Stars completed the two-game road sweep to open the Great North Midget League regular season.

Micky Sartoretto and Kurtis Travaglini scored two goals each while singles went to Mike Rivard, Matt Amadio, Bronson Kovacs, Anthony Colizza, Jerry Petingalo, Jarrett Burton and Luke O'Brien.

Kevin Closs set up three goals while Amadio, Colizza and Kevin Smith each added two assists. Rivard and Petingalo also recorded an assist each.

Justin Hogsden picked up the win in goal.

The North Stars return home to host the North Bay Trappers next weekend at the John Rhodes Community Centre. Game times are 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
