Mosquito Black Sox finalists in Rudyard

The Royal Bank/Station Mall Black Sox participated in the Rudyard Junior Scrappers Invitational Tournament last weekend. In round robin play, the Black Sox went 2-1. The Black Sox opened the tournament with a convincing 20-2 win over Newberry.

The Royal Bank/Station Mall Black Sox participated in the Rudyard Junior Scrappers Invitational Tournament last weekend.

In round robin play, the Black Sox went 2-1.

The Black Sox opened the tournament with a convincing 20-2 win over Newberry. Winning pitcher was Grant Syrette and Zac Ching Sang lead the offence by going 3-for-4 and scoring 4 runs.

The only loss in round robin play was a 13-12 loss to host Rudyard Scrappers. Matt D'Ettorre went 3-for-4 in the defeat.

The team rebounded with a 21-2 win over St Ignace as Grant Syrette picked up the win, Davis Boyer went 4-for-4 and both Matthew Majic and Syrette scored four runs each.

In semi-final play, the Royal Bank/Station Mall Black Sox defeated St Ignace for the second time in the tournament by a score of 16-5.

Zac Chin sang was the winning pitcher. Lucas Turpin had a triple and scored three runs while Davis Boyer went 3-for-4.

In the championship game, Rudyard was up to the challenge and won by a score of 14-1. Robert Atkinson lead the offence with a double.

The team now prepares for a tournament the July 29 weekend in Chatham.
