Two Sault Ringette Club players competed as members of the Northeast Ringette U19AAA team at the 2020 Ontario Winter Games held Feb. 27 to March 1 in Orillia. The Northeast roster includes players from Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, North Bay, and Timmins. Youth ages 12 to 18 years of age participated in 27 sports at this showcase event, including 110 elite ringette players representing six Ontario regions.

For veteran U19AAA goaltender Alyssa Desgagne, this was her third Ontario Winter Games; and forward Darienne See, her second games, representing the Sault Ringette Club. Both players were members of Sault Ringette’s 2017 U16A Team Ontario. This season See plays with the local U19A team and Desgagne with the Valley East (Sudbury) 18+A team.

The competition at the Games is intense with the very best ringette players in the Province competing for gold. The Sault Ringette Club extends our congratulations to Alyssa and Darienne!

The Sault Ringette Club will be hosting the 2020 U12 Provincial Event April 2–5, with games happening at John Rhodes Arena, McMeeken Arena, and Rankin Arena. All community members are welcome to attend games for free, to cheer on our local athletes, and to see why ringette is known as the fastest game on ice.
