Local gymnasts crowned champions at Michigan competition

This past weekend members from the National Group at the Sault Gymnastics Club attended their first competition of the season in Ypsilanti, Mich. The competition was held at Eastern Michigan University and was a huge success.

In the Xcel Gold Jr A Division Myah Stefanizzi finished the competition with a silver medal on vault and bars, bronze on floor, gold on beam and was the all-around champion.  

In that same division Presley Nadon ended up with a 9th on vault, gold on bars, bronze on floor, silver on beam and finished the meet with an all-around silver medal.  

In the Xcel Gold Jr B Division, Alexis Sopha finished with a gold on vault and bars, bronze on floor, 8th on beam and was the all-around champion. In the same division, Zoe Foltz completed the competition with a bronze on vault and bars, 4th on beam, 6th on floor and was the all-around silver medalist.  

In the Xcel Gold Jr C Divison, Sophie Rose finished the competition with a gold medal on bars, beam and floor and was 4th in the all-around. In the same division, Claire Mattila finished the competition with a bronze medal on beam, 6th on bars and floor and finished a very respectable 7th in the all-around. SSMGC took home the Xcel gold all-around team trophy.    

In the Level 9 Optional Division, Kayla Paquin finished the competition with a 7th in vault, silver medal on bars and floor, bronze medal on beam and captured the all-around bronze medal.    

Next up for this National Group is the Wolverine Classic in Ann Arbour on Jan. 10-12.
