The Soo Greyhounds capped a successful three-game road trip on Sunday night by rallying from a 2-0 deficit late in the third period to secure a 2-2 tie with the Sarnia Sting.

After shutting out the Saginaw Spirit 3-0 on Friday and then knocking off the Plymouth Whalers 6-2 on Saturday, the Hounds return home with five of a possible six points on the trip.

The tie also allows the Greyhounds, who extended their record to 25-23-8-1 for 59 points, to pad their lead on top of the Ontario Hockey League west division standings to three points over the Whalers and Windsor Spitfires.

Plymouth holds one game in hand on the locals while the Hounds hold one in hand on Windsor.

In Sarnia, the Sting opened a 2-0 lead on the Hounds on second period goals by Jamie Fraser and Chad Painchaud on the power play.

The Hounds finally solved Sting goaltender Ryan Munce in the dying minutes of regulation time as Tyler Kennedy scored his 17th of the season with 3:24 remaining. Blair Jarrett's 21st goal of the season 39 seconds later completed the comeback.

Kennedy, the game's second star, and Jarrett each added an assist while Hounds goaltender Kyle Gajewski kicked aside 26 of 28 shots.

Munce, the game's first star, stopped 35 of 37 shots.
