Denny Lambert's return to the Soo Greyhounds coaching staff was made official on Wednesday.
After his rookie season as an assistant coach, Lambert, a Wawa native, signed a two-year deal with the Ontario Hockey League club to remain with head coach Marty Abrams.
"I am very excited about having the opportunity to continue my coaching career with the Soo Greyhounds. I learned a lot working with Marty Abrams last season and I look forward to helping him develop our players and improving our club," said Lambert in a press release from the club.
"Signing Denny is a positive step for our organization," said Abrams. "He remains focused and determined to make the transition from player to coach and I look forward to working with him again this season".
Lambert played three seasons with the Greyhounds as walk-on before advancing to a 482 game National Hockey League career with Atlanta, Ottawa, Nashville and Anaheim.
"We are pleased Denny has agreed to continue as the team's assistant coach," said Greyhounds general manager Dave Torrie.
"Denny has a strong relationship with the returning players and we are confident he will continue to progress as an assistant coach which will reflect in the success of our organization."
Meanwhile, the Greyhounds are busy making their final preparations for Saturday's OHL draft, which will be conducted via the Internet.
