Laker hockey swept on the road

The team returns to action on Nov. 15 at home against Michigan Tech

It was a tough weekend for the Lake Superior State University hockey team on the road in Western Collegiate Hockey Association action.

The Laker hockey team dropped a pair of games at Bemidji State in WCHA conference action.

On Friday night, Bemidji State took a 3-0 lead through one period en route to a 7-1 win over the Lakers.

Adam Brady and Charlie Combs had a pair of goals each for Bemidji State.

Alex Ierullo and Nick Cardelli chipped in with a goal and an assist while Kyle Looft set up a pair of goals.

Aaron Miller had the other goal for Bemidji State.

Goaltender Zach Driscoll stopped 26 shots for Bemidji State.

Max Humitz had the lone Lakers goal in the contest.

Goaltender Mareks Mitens got the start for Lake State, stopping 24 shots in two periods of work. Roman Bengert played the third period for the Lakers, stopping 10 shots.

On Saturday night, Bemidji State scored four unanswered goals to cap the weekend off with a 5-1 victory.

Ross Armour had a goal and an assist for Bemidji State.

Brady, Cardelli, Alex Adams, and Ethan Somoza also scored for Bemidji State.

Driscoll stopped 18 shots.

Alex Ambrosio had the lone Lake State goal in Saturday’s loss.

Bengert got the start for Lake State, making 16 saves in two periods of work. Mitens stopped five shots in the third period.

The Lakers return to action on Nov. 15 at home against Michigan Tech. Puck drop at Taffy Abel Arena is 7:07 p.m.
