Another season of local stock racing is about to come to a close this weekend.
Drivers will pull out the stops on Thursday night as the final dash towards a points championship at Laird International Raceway in four of the track's five divisions will take place.
Only Michael Gold, a talented young and emerging 21 year-old driver, has secured a track championship by claiming the late model division honours two weeks ago.
Gold will be absent on the final night of racing as the driver has already left the city to continue his post secondary education in Windsor. SooToday.com had erroneously published last week that Gold was off to Ottawa.
Aside from the late model class, track champions will be decided on Thursday night in the modified, factory stock, pure stock and stock four divisions.
Action begins with qualifying at 6 p.m. followed by racing at 7 p.m.
LIR is located on Lake George Road just east of Echo Bay at the Laird Fairgrounds.
