The final week of the high school football regular season is on the horizon.
Seeding heading into semi-final action still hinges on results from week six at the senior level.
With a victory over White Pines on Thursday night, St. Mary’s would clinch the top seed and, at worst, a share of the regular season title.
Thanks to a 37-14 win over Korah on Friday night at Superior Heights in senior action, the Knights would hold the tiebreaker over the Colts if the teams finish atop the standings with identical 4-1 records.
Touchdown runs by Matti Tucker (two yards) and Harley Wardell (25 yards) along with catches for majors by Nate Carter (21 yards) and Jaiden Trudeau (one yard) and a punt return for a touchdown by Trudeau (66 yards) lifted the Knights to a win over the Colts Friday.
In addition to the touchdown run, Tucker completed 19 of 27 pass attempts for 183 yards in the win.
Colin Meade had 11 tackles defensively while Landen Trecartin added six for the Knights.
Ethan Carchidi (10 yards) and Cole Barbeau (one yard) had touchdowns for the Colts in the loss.
Nathan Guizzetti ran for 157 yards on 18 carries for the Colts offensively and had five tackles.
Carchidi and Nathan Higham had 5.5 tackles each defensively for Korah.
Korah wraps up regular season play on Friday night against Superior Heights.
Superior Heights enters week six with a 2-3 record while White Pines is 0-5.
In junior, after a 34-6 win over St. Mary’s on Friday, Korah enters week six with a 5-0 record.
Zane Murdoch had a pair of touchdowns for the Colts while Koen Manchulenko, Cam Williamson, and Payton Melchiorre also had majors in the victory.
Manchulenko had 113 yards rushing on 12 carries for Korah in addition to four tackles defensively.
Melchiorre had 137 yards rushing on 19 carries.
Max Fuselli and Aiden Wonch also had four tackles each defensively.
Amare Valente-Boetang had the lone touchdown for St. Mary’s on a 25-yard catch and finished the day with 124 yards receiving on eight catches.
Marcus Spadafora and Gabe Bifano had seven tackles each for the Knights defensively.
Semi-final action begins on Oct. 19 with the top seeds in both senior and junior facing the fourth seeds at Superior Heights. The junior game kicks off at 4:45 p.m. with the senior game to follow at 7:30 p.m.
The second semi-final games, featuring the second and third seeds, are slated for Oct. 20, also at 4:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Superior Heights.
The junior city final is slated for Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m. with the senior final on Oct. 27, also at 7:30 p.m. Both championship games are at Superior Heights.
