Kinross Speedpark gears up for 25th racing season

Race events and track’s Summer Concert Series take off June 1

The 25th anniversary season at the Kinross Speedpark will drop the green flag on the Twin Sault and area stock car racing season this Saturday night.

Saturday, June 1, the engines will roar as the cars and stars of the 1/4 mile asphalt oval will hit the track to begin a busy and highly-anticipated summer of action starting with their season opener and John Lowery II Tribute event proudly presented by Rudyard Auto Sales and Auto Value.

Time trials are set for 4 p.m. with racing action to follow at 6 p.m. (Should Mother Nature not co-operate, the track has established a rain date of Sunday, June 2 with time trials at 1 p.m. and racing at 3 p.m.)

Following the races, fans and drivers can stay in the main grandstand and enjoy the first show as part of the track’s Summer Concert Series featuring The Whole Shebang.

John Lowery II from Elmira, Mich. was a competitor at the Speedpark for three seasons. The quiet and loyal competitor competed at Kinross for three seasons before losing his courageous battle with cancer in August of 2017. Fox Boyz Racing and the Kinross Speedpark are very honoured and privileged to be pay tribute to John while dropping the green flag on another summer of fun, family entertainment featuring a full show of modifieds, ABC stock cars and four-cylinders.

Main grandstand pricing for this event is set at $10 USD, $12 CDN for adults (18+), $7 USD, $9 CDN for seniors (60+) and students (12-17), while kids 11 and under are free!

The Speedpark embarks on a new season of action after welcoming over 90 different competitors trackside during their regular season last year, and over 100+ to cap off the year.

Fast-forward to the present, and the facility is anticipating a tremendous summer of action, attracting drivers and fans from across the U.S. and Canada as the facility is the new home for the Hot Shoe 100.

The early August event is a $10,024 to win modified event and will feature former 25-year NASCAR competitor Kenny Wallace right here in our own backyard.

The Hot Shoe 100 marks a summer that will also feature the track’s longstanding and premiere year-end event, the Memorial Invitational in Memory of Randy Dewitt and Ted Brooks along with the 2nd annual Baby Shoe Hot Shoe 100 Qualifier and a complete enticing schedule of events.
