Mother Nature's curse against the local stock car racing scene has made its way south of the border.

With Laird International Raceway experiencing several cancellations because of poor weather early in the season, the Kinross Speedway is now looking to get back on the track after a pair of washouts.

Friday is Kids Night at the track with events for the youngsters and a goodie bag courtesy of the ever popular Mel's Fireworks in Brimley. Canadian money is at par for admission to the grandstand area.

The following is a press release provided by the Kinross Speedway:

It's all about the Kids this Friday at KINROSS SPEEDWAY

By Gerry Liscumb Jr.

The month of July will be ushered in with a special Kids Night this coming Friday, July 2nd at the Kinross Speedway.

In addition to our 4-in-1 show of Late Model, Factory Stock, Pure Stock and 4-Cylinder racing action, the Speedway will be holding no less than three events for the youngsters in attendance.

For the 2nd consecutive season, Mel's Fireworks of Brimley, MICHIGAN has graciously come on board to distribute gift bags to the kids. It was one season ago those same bags contained mini-fireworks, sparklers, snaps and other safe paraphernalia to get the kids geared up for Independence Day.

Then at intermission we will be holding Kids Rides. Fans young and old will be welcomed out onto the front straightaway where they can meet, greet and go for a stock car ride with their favorite driver. It's a guaranteed hit with everyone!

To conclude the off-track festivities there will be a drawing held for 2 kids bikes courtesy of the Kinross Speedway.

Back on the ¼ mile the Auto Value Parts Store Factory Stock Special will take place alongside a regular show in our remaining 3 divisions.

It's that show that will include our regular routine of 4-car dashes, Australian pursuits, heat races and feature events.

Qualifying begins at 6 p.m. with the racing action to follow at 7:30 p.m.

General admission prices are $8 for Adults, $6 for Students and Seniors while Kids 12 & Under are admitted FREE.

Of note, Canadian money will be accepted at par for admission to the main grandstand.

To get to the Kinross Speedway take exit 378 off the I-75 and follow the signs to the Fairgrounds.

For more information you can check us out online at www.kinrossspeedway.com or you can contact us by phone at 906-647-3405 or by e-mail at [email protected]

With two consecutive rainouts now behind us the racing action should be hotter than ever as this ¼ mile tightly-nestled in Michigan's Upper Peninsula is ready to get back on-track and it all resumes this coming Friday, July 2nd.

Until the next green flag flies at the track …. "Where Action is the Attraction!!!" We'll cya there!
