After struggling out of the gate to start the season, the Soo Jr. Greyhounds are rolling along like a well-oiled machine.
After a pair of weekend wins, the Great North Under-18 League team has won nine straight games.
The weekend opened in dramatic fashion on Saturday as the locals beat the Sudbury U18 Wolves 2-1 in overtime at the GFL Memorial Gardens.
Coulson Bell had the overtime winner for the Jr. Greyhounds after the Wolves tied the game as time expired in the third period on a goal by Felix St. Onge.
Lucas DiBerardino had the other goal for the Jr. Greyhounds in Saturday’s victory.
On Sunday, Danny MacDonald had three goals and three assists as the Jr. Greyhounds skated to an 11-3 win over the Kapuskasing Flyers at the John Rhodes Community Centre.
Sebastien Dos Reis chipped in with three goals and two assists while Bell had two goals and three assists for the Jr. Greyhounds and Brady Real also had a five-point day with a goal and four assists.
Griffin Albert scored twice for the Jr. Greyhounds and Cole Wreggitt assisted on three goals as well.
Lex Lamontagne scored twice for the Flyers. Bruce Shier assisted on two goals and Jaxon Beauchamp had the other Kapuskasing goal.
Following the weekend, the Jr. Greyhounds have a record of 12-10-1-1 on the season ahead of a trio of upcoming road games.
The Jr. Greyhounds are in Kapuskasing on Friday and Saturday before wrapping up the trip in Timmins against the Majors on Sunday.
