Jr. Greyhounds drop two of three against North Bay

The Jr. Greyhounds rebounded for a Sunday win after dropping the opening two games of the weekend against North Bay

The Soo Jr. Greyhounds AAA midget team completed a three-game Great North Midget League series with the North Bay Trappers over the weekend.

The Trappers took the opening two games before the Jr. Greyhounds salvaged the weekend with a win on Sunday.

A pair of goals in the third period were the difference on Sunday.

Stephen Pszeniczny and Michael Chaffay scored in the final period to break a 3-3 tie and give the Jr. Greyhounds a 5-3 win.

Pszeniczny and Ethan Esposito had a goal and an assist each while Dylan Forsyth assisted on a pair of goals.

Devin Mauro and Mason Chitaroni also scored for the home team.

Nathaniel Lalonde scored all three goals for the Trappers.

On Saturday, Alex Little and Ethan Masson had a goal and an assist each as the Trappers beat the Jr. Greyhounds 4-0.

Will Rivet and Bourke Cazabon also scored.

In Friday’s opener, Cameron Pariseau’s goal in the third period broke a 1-1 tie and helped the Trappers to a 3-1 win over the Jr. Greyhounds.

Rivet and Brody Belinger also scored for the Trappers.

Mauro had the lone goal for the Jr. Greyhounds.

The Jr. Greyhounds return to action on Friday night in the opening game of a three-game weekend road trip.

The team will face the Sudbury Wolves minor midget team on Friday night before playing games against the Trappers on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
