Indians let one slip away in Manitoulin LITTLE CURRENT -- Not once but twice, the Soo Indians let the game slip away from them here Friday night at the Howland Recreation Centre. Leading 3-2 after having taken the lead at 18:00 of the period on James Ciotti's second goal of the game, the Indians were 1.4 seconds from a victory when Carlo Metatawabin scored on the power play to give the home town Manitoulin Islanders new life. Then, with three seconds remaining in the five-minute overtime, Brandon Ingraham scored his second of the game to give Manitoulin a stunning 4-3 Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League triumph over the Indians. The victory was only the fourth of the season for Manitoulin but two of the wins for the 4-16-4 Islanders have come at the expense of the Indians, who now have 27 points from a 13-9-1 record. Besides Ciotti's two goals, Isaac Viau also scored for the Indians, who outshot Manitoulin 50-39 only to be repeatedly denied by Islanders' ace netminder Billy (The Kid) Stone. Tyler Corston-Moore scored the other Manitoulin goal. The Indians are now home for three games in the span of four days. On Wednesday, the Indians are home to Blind River followed by Friday and Saturday night encounters with North Bay and Sudbury, respectively. All games are 7 p.m. starts at Big Bear Arena.
