Indians fire blanks in two losses Soo Indians fired 92 shots on goal but still lost a pair of Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League games on the weekend. The Indians outshot the Sudbury Kal Tire Junior Wolves 44-26 on Friday night only to drop a 4-3 decision at Big Bear Arena to the defending NOJHL champions. Then on Saturday night in Blind River, the Indians unloaded with another 48 shots but gave up 52 attempts on their own net and lost a 3-2 decision to the hometown Beavers. Sean Farley, Joe Larson and Derek Thocker scored for the Indians in the loss to Sudbury. The Indians led 2-0 in the first period but Sudbury chased Brennan Poderzay from the Indians' net with two goals on just 10 shots, forcing Elliot Hogue to finish up between the pipes. Hogue then made 49 saves on Saturday night in Blind River but despite his heroics and two more goals from Farley, the Indians lost to drop their season record to 5-3. "When you take as many shots as we did in the two games, you don't expect to lose both," lamented Indians' head coach Jim Capy. "We've got to start finishing better around the net and get more players creating our scoring chances." The Indians are home for two more games this weekend with Abitibi at Big Bear on Friday night and Manitoulin in town the next evening. Admission for all Indians' home games is $5.
