The Soo Greyhounds entered the final game of a three-game road trip on Sunday with a three-game unbeaten streak on the line.
Having shown improved play under the direction of new head coach Craig Hartsburg, the Hounds opened the road trip with a 3-3 tie in Sudbury before nipping the Barrie Colts 4-3 on Saturday night.
On Sunday, just 16 hours following the conclusion of the Barrie game, former Hound Brett Connolly had a break out game with two goals and an assist to led the Mississauga IceDogs past the Greyhounds 7-3.
The goals for Connolly, which included one on the power play, marked his first two of the season. Connolly was named the game's first star.
The game was tied 2-2 after one period before the IceDogs broke the game open with three second period goals.
Reg Thomas along with Jeff Cater, who also added an assist, and Matt Puntureri on the power play scored for the Greyhounds.
Dustin Jeffrey, Michael Swift, Bradley Snetsinger, Kyle Quincey and Patrick O'Sullivan scored for Mississauga. Adam Abraham recorded three assists while Swift and Anthony Butera added two each.
The loss drops the Greyhounds record to 4-8-2-0 for 10 points and fourth place in the west division. Windsor leads the division with 17 points while the Hounds have two games in hand.
The locals return to action to begin a three-game home stand on Wednesday as the Sudbury Wolves visit Memorial Gardens in a 7 p.m. start.
