Hounds release 2003-04 schedule

The Soo Greyhounds will enjoy a pair of home games to open and close the season as the team released its 2003-04 Ontario Hockey League Schedule on Sunday. The Hounds will open the campaign on Friday, Sept. 19 when the Ottawa 67's visit the Sault.

The Hounds will open the campaign on Friday, Sept. 19 when the Ottawa 67's visit the Sault. Their second game follows on Sunday, Sept. 21 with a 2 p.m. affair with the Erie Otters.

In a switch, the Greyhounds have opted to begin all their Sunday home games at 2 p.m. with the exception of one game.

In all, the Hounds will play 13 Friday games, 6 Wednesday, 1 Saturday and 1 Tuesday game. The Hounds will play Saginaw and Sarnia eight times each along with six contests with northern rival Sudbury.

The Hounds conclude the regular season March 12 and 14 with home contests against Saginaw and London, respectively.

The OHL schedule, which consists of 682 games, begins Wednesday, Sept. 17 with the Barrie Colts visiting the Owen Sound Attack. The OHL playoffs begin March 19, 2004 with the eventual OHL champion playing in the Memorial Cup May 15-23, 2004 in Kelowna, B.C.

In a continuing effort to prioritize education, the OHL has scheduled 90 per cent of games from Thursday to Sunday with 32 per cent of games begin played on Friday nights.

The Greyhounds pre-season schedule has yet to be finalized.
