High school sports notebook: volleyball tournament set, hockey season winding down

The high school volleyball Final Four tournament is set for Tuesday

The Final Four tournament for city girl’s high school volleyball is set for Tuesday night at Superior Heights.

Korah finished atop the standings in the senior loop while St. Mary’s enters the tournament as the top-seeded junior team.

Also competing in the senior event will be Superior Heights, St. Mary’s and Notre-Dame-du-Sault.

The junior field will be rounded out by Korah, Notre Dame, and Superior Heights.

Round robin action for the event begins with junior games at 9 a.m. while the senior tournament begins at 10:15 a.m.

The senior final is set for 6 p.m. and is preceded by the junior final at 4:30 p.m.

While high school volleyball prepares to crown the city champs, the high school hockey regular season is winding down.

On Sunday night St. Mary’s skated to a 9-3 win over Korah at the GFL Memorial Gardens.

Colby Arbour and Chuck Webb had a goal and two assists each for St. Mary’s in the win.

Ethan Novello added a pair of goals for the Knights, who jumped out to a 4-1 lead through one period.

Nick Niro and Owen Watson chipped in with a goal and an assist each.

Nathan Rowe, Theo Smith, and Josh Mannarino also scored for the Knights.

Jordan Cliffe, Kaden Dundas, and Nathan Keranen scored for the Colts.
