With the last day of action on tap, the final of the 2025 Montana’s Brier will feature at least one team with Sault ties.

Matt Dunstone’s Manitoba-based rink, which includes E.J. Harnden and Ryan Harnden of the Sault, booked a spot directly in Sunday’s championship game thanks to a win over Brad Gushue’s Team Canada rink on Saturday.

Dunstone beat Gushue 7-4 Saturday in the 1V2 Page Playoff game to advance while Gushue will have one more shot on Sunday morning to get into the final.

With things tied at four, Dunstone scored a pair in the ninth end to break the tie before capping off the win with a steal of one in the 10th end.

Sault Ste. Marie’s Brad Jacobs earned a spot in Sunday’s semifinal thanks to a 6-5 win over Manitoba’s Reid Carruthers in the 3V4 Page Playoff game on Saturday afternoon.

Jacobs scored a single in the 10th end to win after Carruthers battled back from a 5-2 deficit to tie the game.

Down 5-2 through seven ends, Carruthers scored one in the eighth end before tying the game with a steal of two in the ninth.

Jacobs will face Gushue in the semifinal following the latter’s loss to Dunstone in the 1V2 Page Playoff game Saturday evening.
