Forced to play the first eight games away from home while the finishing touches on the Steelback Centre are completed, the Soo Greyhounds are coming home with 10 of possible 16 points and a share of first place in the west division.

On Sunday night in Oshawa, the Greyhounds put an end to the lengthy road swing with a 4-3 loss to the Oshawa Generals in a shootout.

At 4-2 with two shootout losses, the Hounds sit tied with the Sarnia Sting and Plymouth Whalers for the division lead with 10 points each.

The Greyhounds will now prepare to open the Steelback Centre on Wednesday at 7 p.m. against the Sudbury Wolves.

In Oshawa, the Hounds were forced to a shootout for the fourth time this season after letting a 2-0 first period lead slip away.

Dustin Jeffrey's eighth goal of the season while short handed and captain Cody Thornton's third of the year spotted the two goal lead.

Oshawa fought back to tie the game in the second but David Kuchejda put the Greyhounds back in front 3-2 after two periods.

Vaclav Meidl scored two goals for the Generals, including the tying goal in the third period, while Kyle Paige notched the other.

Sault product Dean Howard picked up an assist for the Generals while Jeffrey also assisted once.

Matt Hache made the start in goal for the Hounds and faced 40 shots while his team managed 23 shots on the Generals.

In the shootout, all three Hounds shooters were shutdown while Meidl won the game with his team's final shot.
