Local football fans will be treated to a pair of home openers on Saturday at Rocky DiPietro Field.

At 1 p.m., the Sault Sabercats will make their 2007 Ontario Varsity Football League debut at home against the Essex Ravens.

In the night cap, the Sault Steelers begin the home portion of their Northern Football Conference campaign against the rival Oakville Longhorns at 7 p.m.

After playing the first half of the regular season on the road, the Sabercats will have four consecutive home games to close the schedule. The team brings home a win, two losses and an overtime defeat for three points following a tough 21-20 loss in extra time to Guelph last Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Steelers come home with a 1-1 record after a 7-3 loss in Markham and a 29-0 victory in North Bay.
