The Sir James Dunn Eagles are quietly keeping pace with the St. Mary's Knights.

On Saturday afternoon at Rocky DiPietro Field, quarterback Frank Weise threw for five touchdowns as the Eagles rolled past the White Pines Wolverines 35-7 in High School Football League senior division action.

The win lifts the Eagles to 3-0 and a of share top spot with Knights setting up a key match between the two teams next Saturday.

By halftime, the Eagles held a 21-0 lead as Weise threw touchdown passes to Peter McGonegal from seven yards out, Mark Jokic from 44 yards away and Tyler Brown from 19 yards out. Brown then caught two more passes of 16 and 48 yards for touchdowns to open the second half.

Nick Wegener kicked five converts for the Eagles.

Alanzo Clark scored White Pines' lone touchdown on an 11 yard run late in the game, which was converted by Matt Santos.

In all, Weise completed eight of 13 passes for 181 yards including five to Brown for 117 yards. McGonegal paced the rushing attack with 78 yards on 16 carries while Ryan Bangma added 74 yards on 12 carries.

Defensively, Lucas Walker recorded 10.5 tackles and Weise made five tackles and two interceptions. Matt McKenzie added six tackles and J.J. Bergamin five.

For White Pines, Clarke led the offense with 149 yards rushing on 23 carries. Quarterback Justin Wensley completed seven of 20 passes for 54 yards including three strikes each to Jon Widgett and Corey Wensley.

Matt Connors and Tyler Kostiuk anchored the Wolverines defense with 6.5 tackles each while Anthony Silvano added five.

JUNIOR:

In junior division play on Saturday morning, the Eagles soared past the Wolverines 42-0.

David Morano and Jake Gioia scored two touchdowns each while Matt Wagner and Jack Lucenay added the others. Jessy Depetrillo booted four converts.
