NOHA Under 17 Camp

The Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA) held its 25th annual Under 17 Program of Excellence Camp in Espanola this past weekend. The intense three-day camp featured more than 80 players born in 1991 from the NOHA territory.

The purpose of the camp is to select 12 players (one goaltender, four defencemen and seven forwards) from the NOHA Camp to attend the Ontario Provincial Camp at York University (Toronto) from June 26-29, 2007. In Toronto, 80 of the province's best 16-year-old players will be put through their paces in order to select the 20 players that will compete as Team Ontario at the 2008 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in London, Ont. this December.

The following players have advanced from the NOHA Camp to the Ontario Provincial Camp:

Nathan Beer – Espanola Christopher Chaput – Val Caron Michael Doan – Sault Ste. Marie Nick Esposto – Seguiandah Marcus Foligno – Sudbury Jamie Haines – Val Caron Stefan Herrington – Sudbury Brandon Labelle – Hanmer Steven Landry – Sudbury Denis Restoule – Sudbury Elliot Richardson – Hanmer Dustin Roy – Kirkland Lake
