Professional wrestling returned to Legion Hall this past Friday, when Valek beat out Big Daddy T for the Sault Ste. Marie championship in a WWE-style battle royal. This was Valek's first match as a professional wrestler.

"I won because I'm faster and it helped that Buckshot was around," Valek told SooToday.com.

The card was co-hosted by the Sault Ste. Marie based Northern Ontario Wrestling Alliance (NOWA) and the Northern Michigan based Superior Wrestling Alliance (SWA).

The fans, who hailed from both sides of the border, were as passionate as the wrestlers.

A Canada vs. USA feud broke out early in the show, and a NOWA vs. SWA challenge was issued and accepted for the July 14th Relay for Life in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.

Local wrestler Josh Bennett represented Canada during a triple-threat street match. "It's awesome to be wrestling from the Sault," Bennett said. "Lots of passionate fans. Coming out and hearing the fans – It’s unreal."

"I'm after the Extreme Title," Bennett added. "Bring it back to the Sault."

In another hard fought match, maple-leaf clad Karl Karufel emerged as Canadian Champion after a see-saw battle with California bad-guy Brad Hexum.

"It's a dream come true," Karufel said. "The fans in Sault Ste. Marie are amazing. Without their support, I wouldn't have brought the Canadian championship back to Canada."

The final match pitted Big Daddy T against Detroit's WD Gravelle for the NOWA Heavyweight Title.

Big Daddy T came out to over a hundred fans – most of whom were still upset that Gravelle had cost Big Daddy the Sault Ste. Marie Title earlier in the evening.

The wrestlers left the ring several times, and duked it out in stands while security held the crowd at bay. Fans cheered as Gravelle ended the match by tapping out to Big Daddy T's bear hug.
