Cougars share their passion with Notre-Dame-du-Sault students

Work habits, respect and French pride at the forefront of discussions

Students at École Notre-Dame-du-Sault (Sault Ste. Marie) recently had a visit from French-speaking hockey players from the Sault College Cougars. Marie-Pier Lecours, Jasmine Groleau and Riley Lavallée read stories, coloured with the younger children, danced to the rhythm of the music and answered many original questions from the students. Afterwards, the Grade 5 and 6 students had the opportunity to discuss with the athletes the importance of respect and good work habits when playing sports at the college level.

The hockey players, all graduates of French-language secondary schools, also stressed the importance of expressing themselves in French and being proud of it. Their dedication to their post-secondary careers and their Francophone pride make them inspiring role models for the next generation.

While Marie-Pier Lecours is a graduate of ÉS Notre-Dame-du-Sault, Riley Lavallée completed his secondary school studies at ÉSC l'Horizon (Val Caron).
