The Korah Colts nearly felt the bite from the White Pines Wolverines.

After falling behind 14-0 early, the Colts clawed their way back to a 21-14 victory over the Wolverines in high school football senior division action on Saturday afternoon at Rocky DiPietro Field.

After a Korah fumble on the opening kickoff return, the Wolverines converted the turnover into a touchdown as Alonzo Clarke scampered in from 43 yards out for the early 6-0 lead.

White Pines then recovered an onside kick to setup Chris Tulloch for a 41 yard touchdown run. Jon Widgett caught a two-point convert to give White Pines a 14-0 lead just 5:37 into contest and before Korah's first offensive possession.

But the Colts slowly clawed back into the contest as Jourdan Morin scored his first of three touchdowns on the final play of the first quarter to cut the lead to 14-7.

In the second half, Morin ran for a 36 yard major just 1:15 into the third quarter to tie the game at 14-14. Morin completed the comeback 4:39 into the fourth quarter with a three yard run.

Colin Edwards kicked three converts for the Colts, who were forced to play much of the second half without star running back Jon Day, who was ejected for throwing a punch 2:12 into the half.

The win improves the Colts record to 2-0-1 and a second place tie with the Sir James Dunn Eagles. The Wolverines fall to 0-3.

Morin paced the Colts with 174 yards on 21 carries while Day added 49 yards on 10 carries and Pat Koski added 47 yards on eight attempts. Day also caught two passes for 30 yards.

Defensively for the Colts, Morin recorded 3.5 tackles and recovered a fumble while Clint Cudmore made 3.5 tackles and combined on a sack. B.J. Gagne made three tackles and blocked a kick while Ryan Mallette made 2.5 tackles, combined on a sack and recovered a fumble.

For the Wolverines, Alonzo Clarke led all rushers with 178 yards on 20 carries while Tulloch added 62 yards on six rushes.

Jake Doan led the White Pines defense with eight tackles while Adam Stevenson added five. Matt Ritchie and Justin Wensley recorded four tackles each. Fumble recoveries were made by Josh Childs, Anthony Silvano and Shane Maahs.

*** JUNIOR:

In junior division action on Saturday morning, Kyle Leonard and Ben Ginter scored two touchdowns each to lead Korah past White Pines 27-3. Daniel Ferris kicked three converts for the Colts while Matt Santos replied with a field goal for the Wolverines.
