The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League's Soo Thunderbirds have made a change behind the bench.
Cole Jarrett, who is also a part owner of the team, has stepped down as coach of the Jr. A club.
Jamie Henderson, who is the team's general manager and was an assistant coach with Jarrett, is taking over as head coach.
"We are thrilled for Jamie to step into this role,' Jarrett said in a prepared statement.
"He is a dedicated student of the game with a deep passion for mentoring young players and sharing his wealth of knowledge. Jamie’s leadership and commitment make him the ideal choice to guide our team through the rest of the season. We are fortunate to have him at the helm.”
Jarrett also said he's looking forward to focusing his efforts on the Thunderbirds' business operations.
“While I will certainly miss being behind the Thunderbirds’ bench, I’m excited to focus my efforts on the business side of the organization," Jarrett said.
"This change provides a unique opportunity for me to contribute to the team in a different but equally important capacity.”
