Bantam Sox drop championship in London

The Soo Elks Lodge 541 Bantam Black Sox baseball team dropped a 13-7 decision in Sunday's championship game of the Southwest London Tournament to Ajax. The Black Sox opened the tournament with a 14-2 loss at the hands of Whitby on Friday.

The Soo Elks Lodge 541 Bantam Black Sox baseball team dropped a 13-7 decision in Sunday's championship game of the Southwest London Tournament to Ajax.

The Black Sox opened the tournament with a 14-2 loss at the hands of Whitby on Friday. Christopher Buonomo produced a pair of singles and a double in the loss.

On Saturday, the Black Sox opened the day with a 7-4 win over Ajax. Buonomo threw a complete game, giving up four hits in the win. Tyler Hawdon had two hits, a homerun and a single while Ryan McDonald hit a pair of doubles and a single. Kory Lafreniere hit three singles and knocked in three runs.

In their second game on Saturday, the Black Sox defeated North London 17-5. Hawdon and Buonomo had three hits each while Lafreniere added a pair of hits in support of pitcher Corey Jackson.

Lucas Watson and McDonald combined on the mound to give the Black Sox a semi-final win over Whitby. Michael Doan had a pair of singles and also scored two runs while McDonald added a pair of singles in the win.

In the championship, McDonald hit a pair of doubles, a homerun and knocked in six runs in a 13-7 loss to Ajax. Hawdon added three hits and three runs scored while Ben Elliot added two hits and two runs scored in the loss.
