For a change, here's a positive story about a golfer in northern Ontario. (If you somehow missed the negative story, click HERE.)
In the first shot of his first round in a two-day tournament, a golfer in Marathon, Ont. drained a hole-in-one — taking home a $10,000 prize provided by a sponsor.
Jim Principe and his golf partner, Vinnie Nabigon, were playing in the Souckey Chiropractic Two-man Scramble Golf Tournament at Marathon's Peninsula Golf Course Sept. 2 and 3.
On his tee-off in a shotgun start, Principe carved a 6-iron 164 yards onto the green and into the cup.
The hole (the 4th hole on the course) was sponsored by Nawiinginokiima Forest Management Corporation via Galon’s Insurance (Canada Hole in One Insurance).
The tournament's 90 players had been encouraged to: "Tee it low and watch it go, tee hit high and let it fly! More importantly, knock it in the hole in one shot on #4 this Saturday and take home $10,000. Good luck!"
"What a way to start any golf day!" NFMC later said in a news release, congratulating Principe on his first ever hole-in-one.
And no, there isn't a video of the big moment.
