The Algoma University varsity soccer teams were back in action over the weekend hosting games against the Western Mustangs at Superior Heights in the first home action of the Ontario University Athletic season for both men’s and women’s teams.

The Algoma men dropped both games, losing 7-0 on Saturday before dropping a 6-0 decision on Sunday afternoon.

Connor McFall and Mark Serjeant each had a pair of goals for Western in Saturday’s win while Amad El-Houni scored three times in the victory on Sunday. Parker Seymour added a pair of goals on Sunday.

In women’s action, Algoma fell by a 10-1 score on Saturday. Cassandra Lethbridge had the lone goal for Algoma while Sonja Cvetcovic scored three times for Western,

On Sunday, Taylor Bellini had the lone goal as Algoma dropped a 16-1 decision to end the weekend.

Paige Howard had four goals for Western in Sunday’s win while Amanda Boyle and Julia Crnja added three goals each.

The Algoma soccer teams return to action on Sept. 19 when they begin a weekend set against the Windsor University Lancers.
