32nd Annual MNR Hockey Tournament Attracts 43 Teams
Sault Ste. Marie will host the 32nd Annual MNR Hockey Tournament taking place March 9-11, 2006. There will be 43 teams competing in the three day tournament consisting of 40 men's teams and three women's teams. Participants will be traveling from across Ontario in what is shaping up to be one of the best tournaments in years.
This tournament will host over 640 participants and all games will be played in Ste. Marie's local arenas. This tournament event is expected to have an economic impact of over $0.75 million on the community and province. Proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society.
"Tourism Sault Ste. Marie is pleased to have worked with the local organizing Chair in facilitating this tournament. Sport tourism is an important market for us and we will continue to work with groups on these initiatives," stated Ian McMillan Executive Director – Tourism.
