A loyal SooToday.com reader who enjoys observing creatures that unexpectedly visit his yard on Base Line Road sent us photos of an unusual bird sighting and the following note.
In March, the same gentleman provided us with photos of a bobcat that passed through his property.
Be sure to check the small gallery of additional pictures of this odd bird at the bottom of this article.

This may be some interest.
Last night we heard an unfamiliar sound coming from the bush near our house.
We investigated and it turned out to be a male Lady Amherst Pheasant.
People were contacted that may know where it came from or who a possible owner could be but no one had any positive information.
The bird allowed me get about four feet from it before it started to get nervous.
It took a while and quite a few mosquito bites but I did manage to get a few pictures of it.
This morning we followed it to the edge of a field and it flew back into the bush and disappeared.
We have heard it again so I suspect it will be around until it decides to move on.
