September comes to an end after a month of record-breaking heat and drought. The monthly average temperature was almost three degrees warmer than normal and was in the upper twenties for a third of the month. All this heat also led to a frost-free September.
With all that heat and sunshine, we didn't see much rain in September—usually the rainiest month of the year. Just over 40mm of rain fell this past month, but we typically see just over 100mm in this period.
The workweek ahead shows a correction towards more typical temperatures for early October, but it'll still be a degree or two warmer than it usually is for this time of year.
Monday will be sunny, with a light southeast breeze and afternoon temperatures that reach 23°C.
Tuesday will start cloudy with a chance of showers. There is a chance of afternoon sun as daytime highs fall to 17°C on a cool, gusty northwest wind.
Wednesday brings a mix of sun and cloud with afternoon temperatures of 18°C. Sunshine returns on Thursday and Friday, with daytime highs each day near 17°C.
