ENVIRONMENT CANADA
*************************
Weather Advisory in effect for:

  • Sault Ste. Marie - St. Joseph Island

Winter weather travel advisory in effect.

Hazards: Reduced visibility in heavy snow. Local snowfall accumulations near 5 cm.

Timing: Ending this morning.

Discussion: Lake effect snow off Lake Superior is expected to move through rather quickly before exiting to the south later this morning.

Poor visibility in heavy snow will be the primary hazard as opposed to snowfall accumulations. Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.

Snow Squall Warning in effect for:

  • Searchmont - Montreal River Harbour - Batchawana Bay

Lake effect snow squalls off Lake Superior ending early this morning.

Hazards: Additional snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 cm. Reduced visibility in heavy snow.

Timing: Ending early this morning.

Discussion: Lake effect snow will shift south of the region early this morning. Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
