Winter loosens its grip as milder air moves in

Daytime highs expected to climb above the freezing mark for the first time in a while
weather_weekend_outlook2

This weekend, high pressure slowly slides east of the region, allowing a southerly flow to bring warmer air. Each day will slowly get warmer, with only the slight risk of light snow on Saturday night. We will see daytime highs above freezing by the end of this weekend or early next week.

Partly cloudy skies cloud over Friday afternoon as daytime highs reach -2°C.

Saturday will be mostly cloudy, with afternoon temperatures near -3°C. 1-3 cm of light snow is likely in the evening and overnight.

Cloud cover remains in place for Sunday, and daytime highs climb above the freezing mark for the first time in a while.

Daytime temperatures above freezing for the first few days of next week will allow for the existing snowpack to thaw slowly.
