It's beginning to look at lot like Christmas out there, which means nominations are now being accepted at the city clerk's office for the 2023 Holiday Lighting Awards.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie program, co-sponsored by PUC Services Inc., promotes and encourages community involvement and recognizes the efforts of residents who light up their homes and businesses in the spirit of the season, the city said in a news release.

There are two award categories: residential and business.

In the residential category, two winners per ward will be selected, while in the business category, three winners will be selected citywide, the city said.

Judging of the nominated properties will take place the week prior to Christmas. Submissions must include the civic address being nominated and the resident’s name. Any resident can submit a nomination, including self-nominations.

Residences that have won in the last three years (2020, 2021 and 2022) are not eligible, the city noted. The deadline for entries is Thursday, Dec. 14 at 4:30 p.m.

Nomination forms are available online at saultstemarie.ca/awards. Completed forms can be emailed to [email protected] or addressed to the City Clerk – Ronald A. Irwin Civic Centre.

If you are not eligible to participate but would still like your address listed on the city’s website, contact the City Clerk’s office at 705-759-5388 or [email protected].

A complete list of properties will be available at www.saultstemarie.ca.
