What's open and closed in the Sault on Canada Day

A number of city services will be impacted by the holiday

The following City facilities and services will be closed for the Canada Day statutory holiday on Monday:

  • Bay Street Active Living Centre and Northern Community Centre 55+ programs
  • Cemetery office
  • City Landfill and Household Hazardous Waste Depot
  • Ermatinger Clergue National Historic Site
  • Fire Services Administrative office
  • GFL Memorial Gardens, office and Box Office
  • John Rhodes Centre arenas and the Northern Community Centre
  • Ronald A. Irwin Civic Centre
  • Public Works office. For 24-hour emergency service, call 705-759-5201
  • Sault Transit main office

There will also be no garbage, leaf, and yard waste or recycling pickup on July 1. Monday’s collection will be moved to Tuesday with collection being pushed back one day for the remainder of the week

Transit Services

There will be no regular transit service on July 1. Only Parabus service will operate. 

Public Libraries

James L. McIntyre Centennial and North Branch Library will be closed July 1.

Marine Facilities

Both marinas are open July 1 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

  • Bellevue Marina is open July 2 to Sept. 4 Monday to Thursday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday to Sunday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Bondar Marina is open July 2 to Sept. 4, Monday to Thursday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday to Sunday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Pools/Splash Pad

The John Rhodes pool is open for holiday hours. Parent and Child/Lane Swim from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Public swim from 1:15 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The Peter G. Manzo and V.E. Greco pools will open this Friday at 4 p.m. and will be open seven days a week from 1 to 7 p.m., weather permitting.

The Bellevue Park Splash Pad and Manzo Splash Pad are open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Canada Day Events

July 1 at the Roberta Bondar Park Tent Pavilion, opening ceremonies begin at 2 p.m., followed by entertainment and attractions throughout the day. A fireworks display will begin at dusk.

Poutine Feast in the Downtown Plaza June 28, 29 and 30 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and July 1 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
