Dr. Silvana Spadafora is currently transitioning into her new role as Sault Area Hospital (SAH) Chief of Staff.
Dr. Spadafora was officially announced as the hospital’s new Chief of Staff at the SAH Annual General Meeting held June 19, 2017, succeeding Dr. Heather O’Brien.
Dr. Spadafora is a Medical Oncologist and the Medical Director for the Algoma District Cancer Program (ADCP), and is also an Assistant Professor for the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.
Dr. Spadafora is known for working to provide patients with the best care as they battle cancer, with a great ability to communicate with her patients and their families.
She has also been described as a mentor for students and an inspiration to her colleagues.
The Algoma District Cancer Program, under Spadafora’s leadership, established the first Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) at Sault Area Hospital.
In addition, Dr. Spadafora has been very instrumental in assisting with physician recruitment at Sault Area Hospital.
