High pressure quickly builds into the Sault area for the start of this weekend, allowing arctic air into the region. This will bring frigid temperatures on Saturday until the next fast-moving system arrives on Sunday, bringing more snow and warmer air.
Skies will partially clear on Friday, and daytime highs will reach -3 C. A cold, northerly wind will arrive by sunset and drop temperatures below -20°C overnight.
Saturday will start sunny, but temperatures will remain below -10 C all day. Snow will arrive overnight into Sunday.
Snow continues all day Sunday with daytime highs of -1 C. Snowfall totals will be near 15cm by the time it ends in the evening.
Temperatures will fall back below normal for much of next week, with another shot of snow on Thursday.
