Some impressive winds at the start of this weekend will blow away the recent surge of much warmer-than-normal temperatures. A large storm system to the east will create sustained north winds of 50km/h on Friday and usher in a cooler airmass for the start of this weekend.

The good news is that sunshine arrives for most of the weekend as temperatures moderate back to where they normally should be for mid-April.

Rain on Friday morning should taper off and end in the afternoon. North winds gusting near 80km/h will blow all day and drop temperatures to 7°C.

Skies begin to clear on Saturday, and the winds weaken as daytime highs reach 8°C. Sunday starts with the chance of an early morning shower or possibly some wet flurries.  Skies clear in the afternoon as temperatures climb to 12°C.

A sneak peek into the start of next week shows sunshine and daytime highs back into the teens.
