The storm that brought blizzard conditions to the American Midwest this week and extreme wind gusts to the Sault region will weaken and stall out over the Great Lakes this weekend. As a result, the days ahead will bring plenty of cloud cover and scattered flurries.

As the storm remnants exit the Great Lakes region on Sunday, we will see a northwest wind develop that will bring scattered snow squalls followed by much colder temperatures next week.

Skies will be mostly cloudy on Friday, with a few isolated flurries and temperatures lingering around +2°C. We might even see a few sunny breaks later in the afternoon.

Saturday will be cloudy, with daytime highs near the freezing mark. Scattered flurries could add another 1-3 cm of snow throughout the day.

A northwest wind arrives on Sunday to bring scattered snow squalls as temperatures remain near freezing.

As we head towards Christmas, much colder air builds into the region next week.
