This past month was one for the record books - or should I say, created a new standard for the record book! Overall, the month was 5.5 degrees warmer than a normal February. This past month also set a new record for the highest temperatures ever recorded in any February of +11°C set on Feb. 27.

The average temperature for this past month was -3.5°C. A quick look at the 30-year temperature averages for the Sault shows that the morula average temperature for a typical Mark is -4.2°C. So, this past February brought warmer weather than a normal March - making a good argument that we are clearly in Spring conditions.

With the heat, we saw more precipitation than normal this past month. February is typically the driest month of the year, but instead, it behaved more like the months found at the start of spring. This additional snow and rain brings some much-needed precipitation after an unusually dry fall and winter.

The unusual heat continues this weekend and early next week, as we could break more temperature records on Monday.

Sunshine returns on Friday and will help push temperatures up to +6°C on a southerly wind. A few clouds move in for Saturday and keep daytime highs near +7°C.

Sun returns on Sunday and allows temperatures to climb up to +8°C. A damp east wind will make it feel several degrees cooler. Daytime highs could climb to near +10°C for the start of this coming workweek.
