Weekend Outlook: A very brief cool-down after some rain

An area of low pressure in the American Midwest moves into the Sault region early Friday morning, bringing rain and wet snow. A high-pressure ridge quickly moves in from the Prairies, bringing sunshine by the end of the weekend.

The tight gradient between these two systems means we'll see gusty north winds develop this weekend, pulling cold air down from the north and bringing more seasonal temperatures on Sunday.

Clouds ahead of the incoming system move into the region on Friday with daytime highs of +7°C. Rain moves into the area during the evening and continues overnight.

Saturday will be mainly cloudy with light rain, possibly mixed with wet flurries in the morning. Temperatures will be near +4°C in the afternoon when we could see a few sunny breaks.

Skies clear Sunday afternoon as daytime highs fall back to +1°C. Gusty northwest winds will make it feel closer to -7. Expect temperatures to climb back to above-normal values with sunshine early next week.
